Athletic Recruiting - Megan McCormack and Dan Doherty
Varsity coach and Sea Cliff PE teacher, Megan McCormack, and Director of Counseling, Dan Doherty, will discuss the ins and outs of the NCAA athletic recruiting process.
Enlightened Parenting - Ellen Gottlieb
Published author and founder of Enlightened Parenting, Ellen Gottlieb will work with elementary parents on conscious parenting. Enlightened Parenting is a coaching practice intended to teach parents and caregivers how to raise their children more effectively. She teaches specific, counter-intuitive strategies about how to interact with children in each moment in order to foster deeper connections and help them to realize their authentic potential. She advocates walking the parent/child path in a true partnership, rather than a hierarchy. It is both a simple and complex practice. Unlike other approaches, this approach teaches parents how to raise their children more mindfully. The potential benefits can be measured as parents witness the growth of self-confident children who steer themselves toward wiser and safer choices, and who remain true to themselves as they navigate their developmental stages.
Navigating the Digital World - Adam Birkenstock from LICADD and Kristie Lieberman
Our students live in a digital world and it is important to educate them on how to navigate this space. Director of Programming for the Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (LICADD), Adam Birkenstock, will speak with parents about how to help your child have a healthy relationship with digital media. North Shore technology coach, Kristie Lieberman, will share tips on how to set parental controls.
STAR Assessments and Support for Students in Grades K-8 - Dr. Chris Zublionis and Academic Directors
We will share information about the STAR Assessments and how the district will support our K-8 students utilizing the newly formed Response to Intervention (RTI) plan.
